For the opening of cultural hub 'Bibliothek', located in Cairo, the space hosted an exhibition surrounding the theme of joy, titled after Beethoven's composition.
In 1793, Beethoven encountered Friedrich Schiller's poem, An die Freude (Ode to Joy). His deep admiration for the poem inspired him to compose a choral piece with the text in mind. Just as he was inspired by Schiller, a dig back into the piece's covers and artwork led me to the making of this identity.
The harmony of English + Arabic type is a tribute to Bibliothek's goal of bringing the Egyptian culture closer to the West's public eye and creating a space for cultures, and art forms, to exist simultaneously.
