Easily becoming the region’s most influential
film festival — this year’s identity was pivotal
to solidifying their presence in the film world. Referencing the individuality of El Gouna, a place recognized at first glance by certain shapes, symbols and architectural elements— an iconographic system was created.

With a focus on the elements of earth and water, the destination’s main modules, featured shapes including the iconic domes, arches, and starfish are paired with textures from the natural environment that surrounds. The possibilities of pairing the shapes together created an endless array of icons, that were turned into simple Photoshop brushes, where one could edit shape, texture and color. The brushes rendered any medium or application a blank canvas, creating a dynamic identity where any combination of the brushes would still resonate as GFF.

Creating a versatile system was the solution that GFF needed to epitomize their goal of “creating culture through collaboration”, and symbolizes the freedom of self expression that is, the art of cinema.
